Day 2 started out amazing!
I started off with a training run for the 15K that I’m training for. You can read more about it here. I did really good after I got through my mental challenges! I ended up setting a personal best for myself with a 12:19 min mile average for my 5k. Before I hit the road for my run I started with my pre workout because lets face it, it was early and I needed some energy to give that run my all.
Once my run was done it was time to refuel with a good breakfast full of carbs. I just burned 500 calories with that run!!!! My breakfast today is a yellow container of Ezekiel cereal and a splash of Fairlife milk. I heated that up and then added a purple container of sliced banana and strawberries and sprinkled on some cinnamon. So yum! Even though I don’t officially have a red container for this breakfast it still has 11 grams of protein!!! (1 Yellow and 1 Purple)
Oh my gosh, my morning snack was so delicious! I strayed of my normal path and went nutty! Check out the recipe here. It was sooooo good. (1 1/2 red, 1/2 yellow, 1 purple, and 4 tsp)
I had the same thing for lunch as I did yesterday except I swapped the blue for an orange. I know you are thinking …. “what is that in plain english Tanis?”, yesterday I had my half of a baked potato with ham, broccoli and cheese… today instead of cheese I had an orange container of light ranch. I’m saving the blue container for my afternoon snack and dinner.
So after factoring in my containers for dinner, I had a red, a green, 2/3 of a purple, and 1/4 of a blue left…so I dug through the fridge and came up with my snack. 2/3 of half of an apple and I gave the kiddo the rest of the apple for his after school snack. Some turkey slices with a little bit of cream cheese on each, and some celery. I’m hoping it gets me through Mayson’s soccer practice since I won’t be able to eat dinner until after.
I was really worried about today. I struggle a lot with binge eating and this would usually be the day I would binge. We are in the process of selling our house, but until our house sells, my husband spends the week at our old house because that is where he runs his business, and I spend the week at our rental house about 100 miles away. He is only here on the weekends unless we have something specific going on during the week he shouldn’t miss. Last night we had parent teacher conferences, so he stayed an extra day. My challenge is, while he is here, I don’t go all crazy with my eating because I don’t want him to see me eat like that, but then as soon as he leaves…. like literally as soon as his tires have left the driveway, I’m usually in the pantry finding every carb and sugar filled thing I can find. And I eat like that all day and then feel horrible about it and myself afterward.
But I’m happy to say that so far today, no binging happened!
I think part of it might be because I don’t feel deprived at all on this meal plan. (I know, it’s only day 2, haha, but I followed it loosely last week also) I also feel full and satisfied. There isn’t a point where I feel like I’m starving at the end of the day. One other thing I think might be contributing to it is that I’m reading a book called Brain Over Binge and it’s putting things in perspective as far as the reasons behind my binge eating.
Alright, so dinner tonight was left over pumpkin curry. It was so good. I made it on Sunday for dinner and then put two servings away for my dinners this week and my husband took the rest back to the other house with him. I also made some honey glazed roasted beets and carrots. Oh… those are like desert!!!!
The recipe for the pumpkin curry is here, I used pork instead of chicken and I used butternut squash instead of sweet potatoes. I wanted to be able to have brown rice with it, so I didn’t want to waste my yellow on sweet potatoes.
