I’m a very happy mom today!!! My oldest boys came back from Alaska last night. They have been up there for almost 6 months. They have been staying with my dad and working all summer. It was so great to see them and see how healthy they look!
I still have my headache. The intensity comes and goes, at points it feels like a migraine with nausea and pounding and then at other times its a dull ache. This happens about twice a year, and usually lasts about 2 weeks. I’m so over it though. Today I’m trying some essential oils for it. I mixed Frankincense, Lavender, Peppermint and some coconut oil and I’m putting it on my temples. I will let you know if it helps. I hope it does, I’m tired of taking Tylenol and Excedrin, especially when they aren’t really helping.
I forced myself out for a run, it wasn’t a great run, but at least I went out. I walked more than I ran, and at one point I thought I was going to vomit from the pounding headache. I got about 4000 steps. I joined a Stepbet and it started this week…. what a week to start it. I have to get almost 11,000 steps 4 days this week and almost 14,000 steps 2 days this week, and then I have one “rest” day. Well, that ended up being yesterday, so the rest of this week I have to get my steps in!
After my run, I ate my breakfast. I almost forgot to mix the almond milk with my overnight oats before I went to bed last night. This morning I had steel cut oats, hemp hearts, cinnamon, banana and almond butter. It didn’t taste too bad, but it was different. I’m used to my oatmeal being mushy and this was more crunchy. I’m not sure about it. I’m going to try it again tomorrow and see what I think with the mixed berry combo. (1 yellow, 1 orange, 1/2 purple, 3 tsp, 1 red)
My morning snack was so yummy. I love salted caramel mocha’s so I came up with a healthy version. (1 red) You can check out the recipe here.
For my lunch today, I decided to keep it easy. Originally I was going to make some crab stuffed portobello mushrooms, but my head is really killing me, so I made another shakeology with banana and had some cucumbers and a yellow container of sweet potato. (1 red, 1 purple, 1 green, 1 yellow)
For an afternoon snack I had some grapefruit. This week I’m really trying to flush the water, which is why I’m eating so many cucumbers, the water that I’m drinking is cucumber infused, and the grapefruit helps flush water too. It’s helping, I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve had to go to the bathroom today and yesterday! (1/2 purple)
Dinner got switched up a little, instead of my prepped meal, I went out to dinner with my boys after the youngest had soccer practice. We went and had Thai food. Not the best Thai food we have ever had sadly. I felt really good about my dinner though, I had probably the equivalent of 1/2 of a yellow container of rice, and then I chose a veggie and pork stir fry and I kept my portion under control. Normally when we go out to Thai food I eat all the rice and all the entree. That’s what I love about this program is that it is teaching me what a healthy portion is and I’m happy/satisfied with that portion. (1/2 yellow, 1 red, 1 green, 1 tsp)
I still have my headache and it was killing me by the end of the night so I went to bed early hoping to sleep it off. The essential oils didn’t touch it, the Tylenol hasn’t touched it, the Excedrin hasn’t touched it, Ibuprofen hasn’t touched it. I’m ready to cut my head off!
